Taiwan missed two jumpers in the last 15 seconds that could have tied the game and lost to China 67-63 in the classification round on Saturday, finishing for the sixth place in the 2012 Asia Cup tournament in Tokyo, Japan.
Trailing 29-24 at the half and 49-47 at the end of the third quarter, Taiwan mounted the final comeback in the final period. Lee hsueh-lin’s three tied the game at 63-63 with 2:47 remaining before Zhao Tailong made a go-ahead jumper with 1:13 remaining.

Taiwan beat Uzbekistan 86-70 in the classification round on Friday and set up a clash with China for the fifth place of the 2012 FIBA Asia Cup tournament at Tokyo, Japan.
China defeated Lebanon 78-63 in the other matchup. Uzbekistan and Lebanon will play off for the seventh place.
Chen Shih-chieh led Taiwan with 13 points and Lee Hsueh-lin had 12. Tseng Wen-ting, Tien Lei and Lu Cheng-ju scored 10 apiece.
Aleksandr Kozlov led Uzbekistan with 21 points.
Taiwan lost to the Philippines 75-68 on Thursday in the quarterfinal game of the 2012 FIBA Asia Cup at Tokyo, Japan and will have to play in the classification round for 5-8 placings.
It is scheduled to meet Uzbekistan today.

Tien Lei made a tie-breaking alley-oop dunk with 1.4 seconds left as Taiwan beat Qatar 75-73 in its last preliminary game on Tuesday in the 2012 FIBA Asia Cup tournament in Tokyo, Japan.
With 1.4 seconds left, Taiwan NT came out of a timeout and executed a near perfect set play by head coach Hsu Chin-tse for the surprising win.
Tien came off a backdoor screen by point guard Chen Shih-chieh, who missed both free-throws earlier and missed an opportunity to take a two-point lead, took off toward the basket and took an inbound pass from Lin Chih-chieh for the game-winning alley-oop dunk.

Taiwan lost to Iran 71-63 yesterday in Tokyo, Japan and fell to 1-2 in the preliminary round of the 2012 Asia Cup but clinched a quarterfinal berth after India finishing the round with four losses.
Four of the five teams in the Group A and B will make the quarterfinal, which mean Macau and India, each with a 0-4 record, will be eliminated.
