All eyes on Servin for her skills…and pretty looks
While Chapman University, a US NCAA Div-III school, is not having an outstanding tournament in its debut of the William Jones Cup invitational tournament, 183cm forward Stephanie Servin has caught the attention of many local fans with her skills and pretty looks.
Chapman University lost 102-28 to Cathay Life in its opening game and suffered a 113-48 defeat against Japan in the second game.
While Chapman had yet another loss, a 75-50 setback against Malaysia, today, Servin tallied team-high 11 points, 12 rebounds and three steals in the game. She also averaged a team-high 25 minutes per contest in three games.
“I really don’t consider myself as the core player on the team. I just play hard in every game,” Servin told reporters, adding that she had set a goal since she began playing basketball at 5-year-old that she would like to play professionally.
Servin said she could play in Japan or Germany.
The forward, who will be 23 in October, said she enjoys different cultures as well as experiences in various countries and is happy to visit Taipei.
Servin said she idolized Michael Jordan and listed Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin as one of her favorite active NBA players.
“I have been watching him play since he was at the University of Oklahoma and I would keep supporting him,” she said.
“Honestly, I don’t like losing. Nobody does. But I have been able to see different styles of play of different countries and levels in this tournament, which will be a great learning experience for me,” Servin said.
