Well, this is sort of an old news from last week, because I was too busy to write about it. Anyway, National Taiwan University of Art (NTUA) and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) won the men’s and women’s UBA title last week.

Both school won its first ever UBA title in school history – as an underdog. So you could probably say it’s a Taiwanese version of the March Madness.

Men
NTUA beat the Chinese Culture University (CCU) 83-74 in the title game as Chen Che-yu was named MVP for his 21-point, 7-assist performance and Chang Po-wei added 29 for the winner.

Hsing Wu College overcame a 14-point deficit and defeated NTNU 66-62 for the third place, its best finish in school history.

Chang Chia-jung had 28 points, including 16 of 21 from the free-throw line, and Wang Hao-chih had 12 and 17 for the winner. NTNU, the perennial powerhouse which had its worst finish in 10 years at the fourth spot, was led by Hung Kang-chiao’s 26 points and 7 rebounds.

Women
Huang Pin-chen had 13 points and 11 rebounds in NTNU’s historical 61-46 win over the Chinese Culture University (CCU) for the school’s first title.

NTNU opened the game with a 12-0 run and never looked back, snapping the CCU’s 31-game winning streak.

Fo Guang University beat National Taipei University of Education 77-72 for the third place despite Peng Shih-ching’s 39 points for the loser.
