Taiwan Beer guard Chen Shih-nian became the first SBL player to accumulate 1,000 assists after dishing out 9 assists in TB’s 92-79 win over BOT Friday night.
Chen, who has spent nine years with TB since the SBL was established in 2004, now has 1,002 assists in 234 SBL games.
The point guard said his goal is to help TB to win another title rather than setting personal records.
TB, which at one point lost five straight, is now on a five-game winning streak and is back to 8-7. Chen gave credit to his new teammate Kibwe Trims, who Chen said has shored up TB’s interior defense immensely.
At the same time, Dacin Construction denied that its head coach Chiu Da-tsun has resigned over the recent four-game losing streak.
Chiu reportedly has tendered his resignation following the losing streak and the injury of Chang Chih-feng, who tore his ACL in a recent game and was declared out of season.
Assistant coach Huang Wan-lung reportedly would take Chiu’s place as head coach of Dacin, which opened the season 10-2 before dropping four straight.
